Roo is a 14 week old Pitbull/Cane Corso mix (our best guess). She was found all alone at roadside, unloved and unwanted. A Good Samaritan found her and realized she was something special, not a trash-dog. The finder brought her to me for assessment and evaluation and also asked me to work with Roo. She is worth living a good life.
Through my evaluation and a few training sessions, I discovered this is a delightful and fun-loving pup. She is very smart, learns quickly, cooperative, gentle, adaptive, plays wonderfully with other dogs and people; just an outstanding pup.
The finder and I both know that Roo has several strikes against her simply because of her breed mix. That's such a pity. She will bring fun and happiness to whoever takes her for their own. Roo loves life, and she makes sure you are loving it too. She is very worthy.
Contrast that situation with Pippin, the standard poodle:
perfect pedigree, perfect temperament, very well-trained, joyful, smart, gentle, great social skills...the list goes on and on. Because of all of Pippin's character traits and impressive pedigree, he is a highly sought-after dog. He is very worthy.
Now, take a look at both of the dog pictures above. One dog is no less worthy than the other. They are each wonderful. They are each looking for the perfect home. Will it be your home?
Search your heart...not your pocketbook. Life is too short for pettiness. Embrace the day and embrace your opportunity. Love the dog.
