I've spent the past year training Pippin (1 yr. old Standard Poodle) for service and therapy work. His temperament is a near perfect balance. He loves both people (especially kids) and dogs; is very patient and obedient; has a "work on-off switch" (knows difference between work mode and dog mode).
Pippin has the advantage of a unique environment of growing up and training with a canine behaviorist & trainer; he has been an integral part of my training sessions with other students and their dogs. He helps me to teach other dogs and owners how to accomplish difficult training concepts, and proper socialization and play skills. He has absolutely loved this and it has honed his own skills greatly.
Pippin is also my anchor in teaching other dogs and owners the art of the perfect "heel" on leash. I attach the student dog to Pippin's harness, while on leash, and Pippin becomes the mentor for perfect "heel" position to the new dog. As I work with both of them, the new dog easily learns one of the most important dog skills - proper leash walking. Once, the dog has a good idea of how to do this, I then allow the person to walk Pippin (alone) on leash so they can get a feel of the goal they are working toward. I have discovered this method of proper leash walking works like magic for the new students, and the correct outcome has been 100%.
Here is a basic, not complete, list of Pippin's last year of training and living his best life at Julie Taylor Dog Training. If you believe Pippin is the right dog for you, contact me at (318) 481-7803 - serious inquiries only:
